Absolutely NOT - the flavors you experience come from a combination of the beans themselves and the roasting technique. If you see notes of walnut for example and you have a tree nut allergy, do not worry, no one added walnuts. That's just a tasting note . . . like with wine.
We use 100% Arabica beans sourced from sustainable farms across the globe.
While women make up 70% of the workforce in the coffee industry, women farmers have historically had less access to resources and support than men. That's why we strive to have several selections from women owned producers in our inventory when possible. While we are not a certified organic roaster, we do offer organic and sustainably grown coffees when possible.
Yes, the bags are compostable - but please remove the metal tie before composting. Sadly this part of the bag is not compostable.
To maintain freshness, store your coffee beans in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Avoid exposure to light, heat, and moisture. The bag it comes in is the best place to store your coffee. Just keep it sealed up. There is a one-way gas valve to release the gas pressure that coffee beans give off as they age. The main thing to remember is that coffee does not like oxygen. It gives off carbon dioxide as it rests, which is the perfect gas to surround itself in while stored. Never store your coffee in the refrigerator. If you need to store it for a long time, then seal it up and put it in the freezer, but why store it? Just enjoy it while it's fresh. It wants you to drink it.
Coffee is an agricultural product and it has different growing seasons. Coffee sourced from the same farm at different times of the year can taste very different. We like to select the finest seasonal coffees to give you the best experience possible. That's what makes the experience of a great coffee so amazing. You may just want a solid cup one morning and then in the afternoon you are ready for an adventure to make you forget your stressful day. That's what we are all about here. We want you to experience the same wonderful feeling we have when we enjoy our coffee
Brewing the perfect cup depends on your taste preference, but generally, use fresh, filtered water and the right coffee-to-water ratio (typically 1 to 2 tablespoons of coffee per 6 ounces of water). Experiment with grind size and brewing time to find your ideal flavor.
